The marimo are healthy. The lower price for this aquarium is because the sprite pebble is misprinted, the eyes are sideways. Rather than producing waste I am selling this one at a lower price.
Marimo are live and change shape as they grow.
Marimo must be sent damp rather than fully submerged because postal services do not like handling items that could leak if not handled carefully. When yor marimo arrive you will need to fill their aquarium with water and place them in indirect sunlight.
Marimo moss balls, despite their name, are not moss, they are a form of algae.
These are baby marimo. To help them keep their shape you should gently roll them between your palms when you change their water. In the wild marimo are shaped by water currents, rolling them mimics this natural process.
Change their water every two weeks or sooner if it becomes cloudy.
Marimo will knit together if they are not separated occasionally. If you allow any to knit together gently rolling them between your palms when changing their water will, eventually, give you a perfectly round marimo.
Marimo grow up to 5mm per year. As they grow small pieces may detach, this is how they reproduce in the wild. Because they slowly increase in size you may eventually want to move them into a larger container. Any glass jar or bowl will work.
If you wish to keep any in the mini aquarium you can propagate marimo by gently separating a section from a marimo. Both marimo will need occasional shaping as they grow. I do not recommend splitting a marimo smaller than 10mm or propagating a section smaller than 5mm. Technically you can but marimo smaller than 5mm do not stay in shape very well and can get lost in any decorative stones kept with them.
The mini marimo aquarium is made of glass and is fragile. The cork lid is not glued in place because you need to remove it to change the water and keep your marimo healthy. They are intended as desk buddies but can be pocket pals if you are careful to avoid damaging the glass or accidentally removing the lid. Versions with keyring clips have the clips to assist with hanging as decorations in the home or office. I do not recommend using something fragile with glass and water parts as a keyring or bag charm. If you follow my YouTube channel you may see me experiment using my persnal mini marimo aquarium as a phone charm or pendant but it is important to note that they are fragile and using them in any way where they are likely to be damaged or broken.
